LAGOS, Nigeria(VOICE OF NAIJA)- Nollywood actress Blessing Obasi has opened up about the painful online backlash she faced after marrying younger colleague Stan Nze, revealing how trolls mocked her appearance, questioned their relationship, and spread negative narratives about their union.

The actress recalled how she became a target of online trolls during her first wedding anniversary celebration.

She said some critics focused on her physical appearance, particularly her teeth, and left hurtful comments about the way she smiled.

“I was dragged on my first wedding anniversary because of my teeth. Trolls told me to stop laughing publicly because of my dentition,” she said.

According to Blessing, the criticism started shortly after Stan Nze shared her photo online for the first time.

She explained that many people questioned their relationship, with some claiming she looked much older than the actor and others suggesting their marriage was only part of a movie storyline.

“When my husband posted my picture for the first time, people said I was 10 years older than him. They also said it was a movie because they didn’t believe he would actually marry me,” Obasi added.

Furthermore, the actress revealed that the online backlash also affected her husband after comments he made during an interview were taken out of context and misinterpreted by social media users.

“My husband granted an interview one time; his words were twisted on social media,” she stated.

Despite the criticism, Blessing explained that she refused to allow online opinions to affect her marriage.

She maintained that she and Stan remained focused on building their family despite the negative attention surrounding their relationship.

Blessing Obasi and Stan Nze got married in 2021 and welcomed their first child, a baby boy, in 2023.

Their relationship has continued to attract public attention due to their age difference, but the couple has repeatedly expressed commitment to their marriage.
