LAGOS, Nigeria(VOICE OF NAIJA)- The make-up artist, Shanira Manny who became the face of Davido’s hit song “Aye” music video has clarified that there was no fallout between her and the original model chosen for the role, following claims made by the Afrobeats star.
Davido had recently revealed during an interview with Capital Xtra that the female model initially selected to appear in the 2014 music video was replaced at the last minute due to contractual restrictions linked to a beauty pageant.
According to the singer, production had already been planned when the team was informed that the model could no longer participate.
“The girl that was meant to be the main girl, she was in some pageant thing. So we were about to shoot and the manager said they called from the pageant that she’s under contract and we can’t use her for the video,” Davido said.

The singer explained that because the shoot could not be postponed, his team decided to use the model’s make-up artist, Shanira Manny, who eventually became the female lead in the viral music video.
“Davido further suggested that the unexpected success of the video caused tension between the two women.
Reacting to the claim, Shanira Manny dismissed the idea that she and the original model had any disagreement, describing their relationship as a strong friendship.

Taking to Instagram, she wrote, “Never fell out with my friend oooo, she is one of the best humans in my life right now …”
Following Manny’s clarification, Davido acknowledged the correction in the comment section, admitting that his earlier statement was inaccurate.
“They didn’t fall out my bad 🤣,” he wrote.
The clarification has since shifted the conversation around the popular “Aye” video, which remains one of Davido’s most recognised visuals, years after its release.
