LAGOS, Nigeria(VOICE OF NAIJA)- TikTok personality Habeeb Peller Hamzat has been arraigned before a Lagos magistrate court over allegations of obstructing police officers, resisting authorities and breaching public order following a viral confrontation with officers along the Coastal Road in Lekki, Lagos State.
Peller appeared in court on Monday alongside Bello Oladipo over charges bordering on conspiracy to commit a felony, obstructing police officers in the course of their duties and engaging in conduct likely to cause a breach of public peace.
The case is linked to a viral video that showed Peller in an argument with police officers on July 2, 2026.
In the video, the social media personality alleged that he was being harassed by the officers after he was stopped for driving a vehicle without a number plate.
Peller claimed that he had recently purchased the car and explained that he was still in the process of completing the necessary requirements.

He also alleged that one of the officers pulled his shirt and pointed a revolver at him during the confrontation.
However, the charge sheet presented before the court accused Peller and Oladipo of obstructing four police officers while they were performing their official duties.
The defendants were also accused of intimidating and recording the officers during the encounter, as well as engaging in actions capable of disrupting public order.
The charge read in part, “That you Bello Oladipo and Habeeb Hamzat of Number 16, Platinum Road, Lekki Phase 2, on the 2nd day of July 2026 at about 2000hrs at Coastal Road Lekki, Lagos within the Magisterial district of this Honourable Court, did conspire amongst yourselves to commit felony to wit: Resisting public officers and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 411 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State 2015.”
Another count alleged that the defendants obstructed ASP Agbede Victor and three other officers “while engaged in the discharge of their constituted duties,” contrary to Section 117 (1) (2) of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State 2015.

The third charge accused them of acting in a manner likely to cause a breach of public order by allegedly threatening and recording police officers, an offence punishable under Section 168 (a) and (d) of the Criminal Code.
Meanwhile, Peller and Oladipo pleaded not guilty to all three charges brought against them.
Following their plea, the magistrate granted them bail set at N500,000 each with two sureties.
One of the sureties is required to be a blood relative, while both sureties must provide tax clearance certificates from the previous two years.
The matter is expected to continue as the court considers the allegations brought against the TikTok star and his co-defendant.
