ABUJA, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)-The Kwara State Government has reiterated that the Placement Examination, popularly known as the Common Entrance Examination, is free for all eligible pupils and warned public primary and junior secondary schools against imposing unauthorised charges on parents and guardians.
The directive was issued by the Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Lawal Olohungbebe, in Ilorin on Monday, according to a statement released on Tuesday by the ministry’s Press Secretary, Peter Amogbonjaye.
Olohungbebe emphasised that the state government fully finances the examination and has not approved the collection of any fees from participating pupils.
He urged principals and headteachers to strictly adhere to the government’s directive by ensuring that no unauthorised payments are demanded from parents or guardians under any pretext during the examination process.

“Our schools have consistently demonstrated commitment to government policies. We expect every school leader to sustain that confidence by ensuring the Common Entrance Examination remains completely free for every eligible child,” the commissioner said.
He added that the administration of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq remains committed to promoting transparency, accountability and equal access to education.
“The administration of His Excellency, Malam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq places a high premium on transparency, accountability, and equitable access to education.”
“Any reported violations will be investigated and addressed appropriately in accordance with established regulations,” Olohungbebe said.
The commissioner also called on school administrators to uphold the highest standards of integrity throughout the examination process, reaffirming the government’s commitment to conducting credible, fair and malpractice-free assessments across the state’s education system.
“We remain unwavering in our commitment to credible, fair and malpractice-free assessments across the state’s education system,” he added.
He further encouraged parents and guardians to report any demand for unauthorised payments through the Ministry’s C2C helpline, assuring them that all genuine complaints would be thoroughly addressed.
