LAGOS, Nigeria(VOICE OF NAIJA)- Veteran Nollywood actor Ricardo Agbor has opened up about two life-changing moments that tested his faith, revealing how he waited 18 years to become a father after enduring the painful loss of his mother.

Speaking in a recent interview with AfricanAList, the actor reflected on the years of waiting, saying he never lost faith despite the challenges that often push many couples to give up.

Agbor also revealed that he married a woman from outside his tribe, noting that although some people expected cultural differences to create problems, their marriage was without drama.

“I wanted to get married to a particular lady; I have married her regardless of where she is from. She is not from my tribe. So ordinarily, we were supposed to have strife; no, it was very fair,” he said.

The actor disclosed that he specifically prayed for twins, a boy and a girl, and remained steadfast throughout the long wait until his prayers were answered.

“It took 18 years for me to have the twins. And I waited. God knows, 18 years and they are 14 now, so I told God I wanted twins. So while that wait was on, if it were someone else, he would cross. But at the end of the day, I have twins. I have a boy and a girl. I asked God what I wanted,” Agbor disclosed.

Away from his family life, Agbor also spoke about the most painful experience he has ever faced, the death of his mother.

According to the actor, she had spent nearly three weeks receiving treatment from an undiagnosed ailment without any improvement before doctors advised that she be flown to South Africa for further medical care.

However, he revealed that his mother asked to be moved from the hospital and he made plans to take her to another private hospital in Surulere.

Recalling the heartbreaking moment, Agbor said she died in his arms while he was helping her into the car.

“My mom died right in my arms, you know. At the hospital, they were bringing almost 10 doctors to do tests. I didn’t know maybe they just felt we were picking money… and then, and the sickness was not improving after almost 3 weeks. It was after 3 weeks that they told me to come and carry my mom and take her to South Africa. I took my mom away and took her to another private hospital within Surulere, it was my mom that told me to take her away from that place. As I was carrying her into the car, she gave up,” the actor recalled.

The veteran actor admitted that the incident broke him emotionally, describing it as the first time he had ever cried outside of acting.

“I think that was the first time I cried in my life. I don’t cry. If I cry, maybe it is in a movie and it is a role. So I cried. It was painful,” he stated.
