LAGOS, Nigeria(VOICE OF NAIJA)- Nigerian comedian Basketmouth has urged his fellow citizens to prioritize their lives over sacrificing themselves for the country, arguing that no cause is worth dying for if it only leads to becoming a short-lived social media hashtag.
In a series of posts shared on his Instagram Story, the entertainer advised Nigerians to put their personal safety first, stressing that no cause is worth losing one’s life over.
“Whatever you do in this life, don’t die for Nigeria. You’re more valuable alive than as a trending hashtag,” he wrote.

Providing further context, Basketmouth suggested that public sympathy on social media is often short-lived, with the internet quickly shifting its attention to the next trending issue.
“A trending hashtag that might possibly last a few days,” Basketmouth wrote in another post.
