LAGOS, Nigeria(VOICE OF NAIJA)- Media personality Nedu Wazobia has revealed why he left The Honest Bunch podcast, saying his departure was driven by an ownership dispute rather than the public controversy with social activist VeryDarkMan that surrounded the show.
The popular on-air personality stepped away from the podcast in February 2025 after a major controversy erupted over comments made during one of the show’s episodes.
The drama began when comedian DeeOne alleged on the podcast that VeryDarkMan had been involved in intimate relationships with men.
The activist denied the claim and accused Nedu of masterminding the allegation, leaking private conversations and engaging in sexual exploitation.
Following the controversy, Nedu was replaced on the show by Daddy Freeze.
Speaking in a recent video that has now gone viral, Nedu explained that the controversy was only part of the story.

According to him, the real reason he walked away was a disagreement over who owned the podcast.
He revealed that the idea for “The Honest Bunch” came to him while he was still working in radio and looking for a platform where he could speak more freely.
He said he later approached a production company with the concept and attended the meeting with Chudy and Austin.
Nedu disclosed that the verbal agreement between him and the production company was straightforward.
The production team would provide the cameras, crew and technical support, while he would host the programme.
In return, both sides agreed to split all proceeds equally.
“I had the idea, and I said, ‘Okay, let’s do it 50/50.’ So we shook hands. Anything that comes in, I take 50 percent and you keep 50 percent. It was a gentleman’s agreement. That was where I made the mistake,” the broadcaster said.

He further explained that tensions escalated after the public backlash surrounding him, when the podcast handlers allegedly informed him of plans to issue a statement suspending him from the show.
Recalling his reaction, Nedu noted that he found the move difficult to understand because he believed the podcast was built around his original concept.
“In my head, I am like, so what now? Show wey I get? You dey craze? You dey give landlord quick notice?” Nedu asked.
He said the incident prompted him to conduct a search with the Corporate Affairs Commission, where he allegedly discovered that “The Honest Bunch” had been registered as a product entirely owned by the other party.
That discovery ultimately influenced his decision to leave. He maintained that he had initially planned to remain with the podcast until the controversy faded.
“I didn’t want to leave. I was going to wait for it to die down. But when I now saw that it was 100 percent their product, I’m like no. Na him be say I no fit,” Nedu added.
He maintained that his exit was driven by an ownership dispute and his mistake of relying on a verbal agreement instead of a legally binding contract, not his fallout with social media critic VeryDarkMan as many had believed.
