ABUJA, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)-The price of liquefied petroleum gas, popularly known as cooking gas, has continued to decline across parts of Nigeria after weeks of increases driven by supply constraints.
Checks at retail outlets in Abuja showed that cooking gas now sells for between N1,450 and N1,500 per kilogram, down from N1,700 at AA Shafa and Ranoil outlets in Dutse and Gwarimpa.
Other retailers in Kubwa, Dawaki, Bwari, Lugbe and other parts of the Federal Capital Territory are dispensing LPG at between N1,650 and N1,700 per kilogram, compared to as much as N2,000 per kilogram in recent weeks.
The latest adjustments indicate that cooking gas prices have dropped by between N200 and N350 per kilogram over the past few weeks.

Meanwhile, depot owners are selling LPG at between N1,065 and N1,100 per kilogram.
Despite the recent decline attributed to improved supply, retail cooking gas prices remain above the N1,000 to N1,200 per kilogram range recorded before May 27, 2026.
Industry stakeholders have continued to advocate increased LPG imports to boost domestic supply.
The spokespersons of the Oil and Gas Suppliers Association of Nigeria, Chinedu Ukadike, and Nigerian Independent Petroleum Company Plc, Taofeek Lawal, attributed the recent spike in cooking gas prices to seasonal factors, rising demand and supply shortages.
