ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- President Bola Tinubu on Friday reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to expanding infrastructure and improving access to affordable housing across the Federal Capital Territory, saying the ongoing projects are designed to create opportunities, improve mobility and deliver a better future for residents.
Represented by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, the President spoke while inaugurating a newly completed 10.5-kilometre road network in Karsana District, Abuja.
The project comprises Arterial Roads N11, N16 and N40, as well as Special Important Local Street 03, linking the Renewed Hope City and Estates in Karsana West with other parts of the nation’s capital.
Tinubu said the road infrastructure would provide easier access to thousands of affordable housing units by connecting the district to the Outer Northern Motorway, popularly known as the Murtala Mohammed Motorway.
According to him, the project is a practical demonstration of the Renewed Hope Agenda, stressing that quality infrastructure remains critical to economic development and improved living standards.

“By linking Karsana West to the Outer Northern Motorway, also known as the Murtala Mohammed Motorway, we have made thousands of affordable housing units accessible, liveable, and safe.
“This is Renewed Hope on the ground. It means less time in traffic, lower vehicle costs, safer movement at night, and the dignity of arriving at your doorstep without a struggle.
“When I performed the groundbreaking for the 3,112-unit Renewed Hope City here in Karsana, I gave one clear directive: provide the roads, provide the engineering infrastructure, and unlock this district for development.
“Housing without access is a blueprint without a building. For too long, Abuja’s story was ‘awarded and abandoned.’ Today, we are ending that story with roads that open, not ones that stall,” the President said.
Tinubu explained that his administration’s development strategy focuses on identifying infrastructure gaps, providing funding, ensuring close supervision and completing projects for the benefit of Nigerians.

“Renewed Hope is not a slogan. It is a method we practise: identify the bottleneck, fund the solution, supervise the work, and finish what we started.
“That method is turning Abuja into a city where infrastructure keeps pace with ambition,” he added.
The President noted that the timely provision of roads, street lighting and other supporting infrastructure would strengthen public confidence in government while enhancing residents’ quality of life.
He also commended the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, for opening up previously inaccessible residential communities.
“Wike, you have earned my trust, and you have my commendation,” Tinubu said.

Speaking at the event, Wike recalled that the Renewed Hope City lacked an access road when the housing project was inaugurated, making movement in and out of the area extremely difficult.
“There is no road. It was terrible, and I was wondering how people living in the area could access their homes, and we decided we would construct access roads, and today we are inaugurating the roads.
“However, this was feasible because of the support of Mr President,” the minister said.
Wike described the project as another demonstration of the Federal Government’s commitment to infrastructure development, adding that no previous administration had invested in the FCT and its satellite towns on the current scale.
Also speaking, the Minister of State for the FCT, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, said the new roads would stimulate economic activities, improve transportation and enhance the quality of life for residents.
She noted that the project reflected the Federal Government’s determination to build a modern, accessible and inclusive capital city where every community benefits from development.
