Lagos, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- THE governorship candidate of the All-Progressives Congress (APC) in the August 15, 2026, Osun State governorship election, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), has unveiled a business-focused agenda centred on expanding access to finance for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and upgrading market infrastructure to stimulate economic growth.

Speaking during an endorsement rally organised by traders at the popular Igbonna Market in Osogbo, Oyebamiji pledged to introduce interest-free loan schemes, regular business grants and modern market facilities if elected governor.

He described traders, artisans and small business owners as the backbone of Osun’s economy, saying strengthening the SME sector would be a key pillar of his administration’s economic strategy.

According to him, the proposed financial intervention programmes would improve access to affordable capital, enable businesses to expand operations, create jobs and boost commercial activities across the state.

“Our government will prioritise the needs of traders by investing in their businesses through regular grants and interest-free loan schemes. We will formulate policies that guarantee easier access to financial support, enabling our people to grow their businesses without the burden of high lending costs,” Oyebamiji said.

Beyond access to finance, the APC candidate promised to modernise markets through investments in critical infrastructure, improved sanitation, enhanced security and other facilities aimed at creating a more enabling environment for commerce.

He said the interventions would also extend to artisans and other small-scale entrepreneurs, while pledging to strengthen security to protect businesses and investments across the state.

“We will deliberately develop our markets by providing the infrastructure and amenities required to support commerce and industry. We will secure markets across Osun and create an environment where businesses can flourish,” he added.

The economic promises came as market leaders formally endorsed Oyebamiji’s candidacy, expressing confidence that his proposed policies would improve the operating environment for businesses and strengthen Osun’s commercial sector.

Speaking on behalf of the traders, the Babaloja General of Osun State, Chief David Iyiola, represented by the Otun Babaloja of Igbonna Market, Muideen Ajao, alongside the market secretary, Okunoye Temitope, said the endorsement reflected the business community’s confidence in the APC candidate’s economic agenda.

They pledged to mobilise support for Oyebamiji ahead of the August 15 election, expressing optimism that his proposed SME financing programme and market development initiatives would expand economic opportunities, improve livelihoods and accelerate enterprise growth across the state.
