LAGOS, Nigeria(VOICE OF NAIJA)- Afrobeats superstar Davido has urged emerging musicians to prioritize their relationship with God while pursuing success, stressing that fame should never become a reason to abandon faith.
The award-winning singer made the remarks during a recent interview with Kiss Xtra while reflecting on the challenges that often come with fame.
His comments followed growing conversations about celebrities, particularly Christians, who have publicly admitted that they stopped attending church after becoming successful.
Addressing upcoming artistes, Davido said self-belief and dedication to one’s craft are important, but maintaining a close relationship with God should remain a priority despite the temptations that accompany success.

Recalling his own journey into music, the singer said he invested years in developing his talent by constantly learning and improving.
“My advice for up-and-coming artistes, is first of all, believe in yourself. I worked on my craft so much. I loved music so much that I just wanted to get better every time. When I was young, I was learning from YouTube and the people around me,” Davido said.
The “I Know Who I Am” hitmaker went on to caution that fame can easily distract artistes from the values that helped shape their careers, encouraging them to remain spiritually grounded no matter how successful they become.
“Secondly, love what you do and put God first and close, especially when you make it because there are so many distractions that can make you forget he is the reason you are here,” he added.
