ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), has called on President Bola Tinubu to immediately suspend his Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, over allegations linking him to the controversial Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council, PFIPC, which the Presidency has consistently maintained does not exist.
The opposition party said Gbajabiamila’s continued stay in office could undermine any investigation into the allegations and urged the President to establish an independent panel to probe the matter.
In a statement issued on Friday by its National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director, the NDC said the allegations surrounding the purported agency raised serious concerns about transparency, accountability and the integrity of the Tinubu administration.
The party’s demand followed claims by Prince Mathew Adeniyi Adeyemi, who describes himself as the Director-General of the alleged PFIPC, despite repeated insistence by the Presidency that no such agency exists.
According to the NDC, the controversy has raised several unanswered questions, particularly over claims that the alleged agency received budgetary allocations in the 2026 Appropriation Act and successfully operated Domiciliary, Pounds Sterling and Treasury Single Account, TSA, accounts with the Central Bank of Nigeria.
The party also questioned how the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation allegedly approved 314 staff positions for an agency that has officially been disowned by the Presidency.
The NDC further referenced Adeyemi’s allegation that he paid N600 million to secure his appointment, claiming that N400 million was allegedly paid through intermediaries linked to the Chief of Staff, while the outstanding N200 million allegedly became part of the disagreement surrounding the agency.

It also referred to allegations that Gbajabiamila demanded 48 per cent of the agency’s reported take-off grant, a demand Adeyemi allegedly refused, insisting the claims deserved a comprehensive investigation.
The party equally expressed concern over the reported death of Babatunde Tanimola, described as an intermediary between Adeyemi and the Chief of Staff, who allegedly died in a hotel fire in Utako, Abuja, in October 2025. It also cited Adeyemi’s claim that he survived multiple assassination attempts.
Consequently, the NDC urged President Tinubu to constitute an independent investigative panel to examine every aspect of the controversy, including the reported budgetary allocations, financial accounts, staff approvals and transactions linked to the alleged agency.
The party also called on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, ICPC, and the Nigeria Police Force to immediately commence full-scale investigations into the allegations.
It further demanded that officials of the Central Bank of Nigeria, the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation and the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation be invited for questioning, while calling for a forensic examination of official documents signed by the Chief of Staff since assuming office.
In the statement, the NDC alleged that the controversy reflected what it described as a pattern of institutional corruption within the current administration.
“The non-existent agency was allegedly used to siphon public funds, with the active collusion and facilitation by the Chief of Staff, Gbajabiamila. This scandal raises fundamental questions about the level of transparency, accountability, and the integrity of the Tinubu administration.

“According to the allegations by Prince Adeyemi, the PFIPC received budgetary allocations in the 2026 budget and successfully opened a Domiciliary Account, a Pounds Sterling Account, and a Treasury Single Account (TSA), all domiciled with the Central Bank of Nigeria. This development is baffling, given that the Presidency has publicly disclaimed the existence of any such agency.”
The party questioned how an agency allegedly not recognised by the Presidency could have opened multiple accounts with the apex bank.
“The NDC finds it deeply troubling that an agency the Presidency claims does not exist could open multiple high-level financial accounts at the apex bank. For even an individual to open a domiciliary account, stringent documentation is required. How then was a fictitious agency able to open such accounts without the necessary documentation?
“Did the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation knowingly process forged documents? The Presidency owes Nigerians an urgent clarification on this matter.”
The opposition party also questioned the alleged approval of 314 staff positions for the agency.
“Equally disturbing is the claim that the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation approved 314 staff positions for this supposedly non-existent agency. The NDC wonders how such a significant administrative action could occur without the knowledge of the Presidency and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.“
It further referred to allegations concerning the agency’s take-off grant and the alleged payment made by Adeyemi to secure the appointment.
“More grievous is the allegation that the Chief of Staff demanded 48 per cent of the agency’s take-off grant amounting to N27,395,510,136, a request Prince Adeyemi reportedly rejected which invariably resulted in a public spat.
“Adeyemi further admitted that he fraudulently secured his appointment through the Chief of Staff for the sum of N600 million, with N400 million allegedly paid through proxies to the Chief of Staff, with a balance of N200 million outstanding, a default that reportedly contributed in triggering the current denial of the agency’s existence by aides of the President.”
The NDC argued that the allegations warranted more than official denials and insisted that a transparent investigation was necessary to restore public confidence.
The party also urged investigators to examine the circumstances surrounding the death of Babatunde Tanimola and Adeyemi’s claims of repeated assassination attempts.
Among its demands, the NDC called for: the immediate suspension of Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila pending investigation, the constitution of an independent investigative panel by President Tinubu, a forensic review of all official documents signed by the Chief of Staff since assuming office, the questioning of officials of the Central Bank of Nigeria, the Office of the Accountant-General and the Office of the Head of the Civil Service, immediate investigations by the EFCC, ICPC and the Nigeria Police Force, a comprehensive probe into the death of Babatunde Tanimola and the alleged assassination attempts on Adeyemi.
The party maintained that Nigerians deserve a transparent and impartial investigation, insisting that anyone found culpable, regardless of position or status, should be prosecuted in accordance with the law.
