ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- A major fire has broken out at the Bono Energy Terminal located in the Coconut area of Olodi Apapa, Lagos, prompting an emergency response by the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, (LSFRS).
Firefighters were deployed to the scene on Friday as efforts intensified to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading to nearby facilities within the fuel storage corridor.
Confirming the incident, the spokesperson for the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Shakiru Amodu, said emergency responders were actively battling the fire at the terminal.
“The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service is currently curbing a fire explosion at Bono Energy Terminal on Apapa-Oworonshoki Expressway, by Coconut, Olodi Apapa, Lagos. Update to follow.”

As of the time of filing this report, the cause of the fire had not been established.
Authorities also had yet to confirm whether there were casualties, injuries or damage to adjoining facilities.
Emergency responders remained at the scene working to bring the situation under control, while further details from the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service were being awaited.
