LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – Youri Tielemans scored a penalty late in extra time as Belgium produced a sensational comeback from two goals down to defeat Senegal in a dramatic last-32 World Cup tie.

The Teranga Lions started the game well as they got the opener with just 25 minutes on the clock.

Ismaila Sarr’s header hit the woodwork from Sadio Mane’s cross before Habib Diarra rebounded into the net.

Sarr who hit the bar an incredible three times in the first 45 finally got on the scoresheet six minutes into the second half after Moussa Niakhaté sent a long ball from inside the Senegal half to him.

The Crystal Palace man then controlled the pass with his chest before slamming it high past Courtois.

Super sub Romelu Lukaku kicked off the Red Devils’ comeback as he pulled one back for Belgium in the 86th minute with a smart flick into the net.

Three minutes later, Tielemans capitalized on Senegal keeper Mory Diaw’s mistake to come for Leandro Trossard’s cross.

The Belgian captain left Diaw punching the air as he headed the ball into an empty net to bring the game level and force extra time.

The Red Devils were awarded a penalty towards the end of extra time when Lamine Camara slid in on Tielemans in the box.

The Aston Villa midfielder calmly stepped up and sent the spot-kick into the top corner to complete the comeback.

The penalty which was scored with 124 minutes and 44 seconds on the clock was the latest goal scored in FIFA World Cup history.

Rudi Garcia’s men will remain in Seattle where they will face the winner of the United States vs Bosnia-Herzegovina match up in the last-16 tie on Tuesday, July 7.
