LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – Flying Eagles midfielder, Daniel Daga has been acquitted of sexual assault by the Frostating Court of Appeal in Norway.

Norwegian club Molde provided a major update on his case, four months after he was initially sentenced to jail for sexual assault.

His career hit a significant hurdle in April 2025, when he was reported to Norwegian authorities for an alleged sexual offense.

Although Daga maintained his innocence, Molde suspended him from all team activities pending the legal outcome.

In March of this year, a court in the Romsdal district found him guilty and ordered him to pay NOK 10,000 in legal costs.

Following the March verdict, Daga filed an appeal, and he has now received a favorable ruling.

In a statement released on the club’s website, they wrote: “Daniel Daga has been unanimously acquitted in the criminal case heard by the Frostating Court of Appeal.

Based on the verdict, Molde FK considers that Daga will once again be available for play, even though the verdict is not yet final.”

Molde FK has officially confirmed that the 19-year-old has been acquitted of all allegations.

The 19-year-old defensive midfielder arrived in Norway in January 2025 with high expectations, viewed as a rising talent destined for the Super Eagles.

He quickly established himself as a key player for Molde, making 17 appearances for the club.

The recent development clears the path for Daga to return to competitive action immediately, bringing a turbulent chapter in his young career to a close.

Daga has been a fixture in the Flying Eagles setup since 2023.

He represented Nigeria at both the 2023 and 2025 U-20 World Cups, starting every match for the team in both tournaments.

Barring any unforeseen circumstances, he could be back in a Super Eagles jersey in a few years.
