LAGOS, Nigeria(VOICE OF NAIJA)- Nigerian singer Speed Darlington has addresssed his frustration over remaining unmarried at 42 despite his fame, saying he longs for a family and believes he should have a wife and children at this stage of his life.
The self-named “Scorpion King” admitted in a recent video that fame and his American citizenship have not brought him fulfilment.
Sharing his situation with his online followers, the Bronx-born entertainer said he wants more from life than the opportunities his U.S. documents have provided.
“I am close to 60 with no wife or child. Is this how I am going to live my life? All I have to show is American papers. I want more than American papers out of life,” he said.
Darlington expressed disappointment over his relationship status, stating that he desired a family and the respect it brings.

“I want family, freedom and respect,” he added.
Speed Darlington, popularly known as Akpi, rose to prominence in Nigeria in 2017 with songs such as Bangdadadang! and his outspoken personality on social media.
A few years ago, the singer publicly advertised for a wife, listing specific qualities he wanted in an ideal spouse.
According to him, she had to be dark-skinned, between 18 and 23 years old, at least 5’8″ tall, weigh less than 150 pounds, and be fluent in both English and Igbo.
Despite that unusual search, the singer has yet to get married.
More recently, he also appealed to single women under the age of 30 to consider having a child for him through surrogacy, explaining that he wanted to become a father and was willing to co-parent.
