LAGOS, Nigeria(VOICE OF NAIJA)- Afrobeats singer Mr Real has strongly criticized First Lady Oluremi Tinubu’s recent advice encouraging Nigerians to consider petty trading as a way to cope with the country’s economic challenges.
The controversy began after Mrs Tinubu suggested that businesses such as selling akara, kulikuli and roasted corn require little capital and could provide a source of income for many Nigerians.
Her remarks drew mixed reactions, with some supporting the idea while others described it as disconnected from the realities facing citizens.

Joining the debate, the Legbegbe crooner dismissed the suggestion, describing it as insensitive in light of the country’s economic hardship.
He said he would rather become a bandit than sell akara or kulikuli, claiming that even if he were arrested, he would eventually be rehabilitated.
“I go rather join bandit than to sell kulikuli and akara. And my target will be only politicians. At least if I am caught, they will rehabilitate me,” he wrote.
The singer’s reaction adds to the growing backlash against the First Lady’s economic advice, which has continued to divide public opinion amid rising concerns over the cost of living in Nigeria.
