ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- The vice-presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, has met with the party’s National Leader, Senator Seriake Dickson, as part of ongoing consultations aimed at strengthening the party’s unity and strategic readiness ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Kwankwaso disclosed the meeting in a post on his verified X account on Sunday, describing the visit to Dickson’s Abuja residence as part of broader efforts to consolidate the newly formed party despite recent legal challenges.
According to him, the NDC remains focused on building a united and resilient political platform capable of competing effectively in the 2027 elections.
“Today, I paid a courtesy visit to the National Leader of our party, the NDC, His Excellency Seriake Dickson at his residence in Abuja.
“The engagement forms part of our ongoing efforts to strengthen the party’s unity, resilience, and strategic readiness as we prepare for the 2027 general elections,” Kwankwaso wrote.
The former Kano State governor also expressed confidence in the judiciary, insisting that the party remained committed to democratic principles and the rule of law despite recent legal setbacks.
“As true democrats, we remain committed to the rule of law and have absolute confidence in the judicial process. No temporary setback can weaken the spirit of a movement built on hope, justice, equity, and the collective aspirations of the Nigerian people,” he stated.

Kwankwaso appealed to party members, supporters and Nigerians to remain calm and committed to the party’s vision.
“I urge all party members, supporters, and well-meaning Nigerians to stay calm, resolute, and focused on our shared mission. Together, we will rise above every challenge.
“Nigeria will be OK,” he added.
Also confirming the meeting, Dickson, in a post on his official Facebook page, said discussions centred on issues affecting the party and the way forward following the recent Federal High Court ruling.
According to the former Bayelsa State governor, the leadership of the NDC had resolved to resist what he described as attempts to undermine Nigeria’s multi-party democracy.
“We reaffirmed our resolve to stand together in the fight for multi-party democracy, and I briefed him on the measures the party is taking to correct and redress the distractions occasioned by the anomalous ruling of the Federal High Court. We are on course,” Dickson said.
The meeting comes two days after a Federal High Court sitting in Lokoja, Kogi State, vacated its December 10, 2025 judgment that had directed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to register the NDC as a political party.

In the ruling delivered in Suit No. FHC/LKJ/CS/49/2025, Justice Isah Dashen held that the earlier judgment was constitutionally defective because it was delivered without hearing all the necessary parties in the case.
The court acted on an application filed by the Peace Movement Party (PMP), which argued that it had a legal interest in the matter and ought to have been joined in the proceedings before the initial judgment was delivered.
