LAGOS, Nigeria(VOICE OF NAIJA)- Stella Maris Okafor, wife to late Nollywood icon Mr Ibu, has defended the controversial sale of some of the late actor’s properties, insisting the transactions were approved by a court and carried out with the consent of two of his sons amid ongoing family disputes over his estate.
The widow denied allegations that she secretly sold her husband’s properties and kept the proceeds for herself.
Her response follows recent public claims by some of the actor’s family members over their financial struggles after his death.
The controversy intensified after content creator King Mitchy visited the family and shared details of their living conditions, prompting fresh accusations over the late actor’s estate.
Speaking in a video with King Mitchy, Stella Maris maintained that the sale of the properties was neither secret nor a personal decision.

According to her, the transactions were carried out in line with a court order and with the approval of Mr Ibu’s sons, Valentine Okafor and Daniel Okafor.
“I have to show you this document. This is a court order. We—I didn’t, not me alone. My husband’s two sons, Valentine Okafor and Daniel Okafor, and I did it according to the court order. Every evidence is here. We sold the house. I am not the one that sold the house,” she said.
Addressing concerns about her source of income, Stella Maris disclosed that she currently runs an online jewellery business.
She explained that she had wanted to start the venture years earlier, but her late husband discouraged the idea because they were both actively involved in acting.
“I have a page online where I sell jewellery, and I am still selling my jewellery. When I wanted to start this business, my late husband stopped me because I was acting. My late husband was my colleague in the industry,” she stated.

She also revealed that she plans to relocate from her current residence, describing the property as too expensive to maintain.
Stella Maris maintained that she only moved there after her husband’s death because of security concerns and pressure from the public.
“I did not intend to come to this place. It’s because of pressure and security, but I am packing out,” she revealed.
Furthermore, Stella Maris addressed allegations made by a young man who claimed to be one of Mr Ibu’s children and accused her of denying him financial support.
She alleged that disputes over money began shortly after the actor’s burial, claiming some family members demanded that she share funds donated to her for the welfare of her children.
“Before they sold the land, we were still in the village, and they were dragging with me over the money that was given to me during the burial. They insisted that I should share the money with them. I told them that this was money given to me for my children. Why should I come and share it with you people?” she asked.
