LAGOS, Nigeria(VOICE OF NAIJA)- Veteran entertainer and activist Charly Boy has made a startling confession about his younger years, revealing that he was involved in theft and white-collar crime while living in the United States, saying he is fortunate to have turned his life around.

The veteran entertainer, whose real name is Charles Oputa, made the revelation while appearing on Arise Television’s Prime Time.

Reflecting on his past, he said he made several poor decisions in his youth and has no intention of hiding that chapter of his life.

According to Charly Boy, he was involved in theft and other dangerous activities before eventually changing his path.

“I’ve made mistakes in my life. I’ve been a thief. I’ve done very risky things. I’ve done very stupid things, very foolish things. In fact, I have no business being here with you tonight, but I guess there’s a purpose for my life,” he said.

He went on to explain that his years in America were marked by reckless choices, including participating in financial crimes while he was in his mid-twenties.

“I was doing white-collar crime when I was in America. I was about 25 years old. I was doing a lot of stupid stuff. That’s why I say I’ve been there,” he added.

Rather than conceal those experiences, Charly Boy said he deliberately documented them in his memoir.

He explained that sharing his complete story was important because it reflects his journey from rebellion and poor choices to personal transformation and self-discovery.
