LAGOS, Nigeria(VOICE OF NAIJA)- Content creator Jarvis has responded to rapper YCee’s criticism of what he called “Peller culture,” defending digital creators by arguing that social media has become a vital source of income for many educated Nigerian youths facing unemployment.
The debate began after YCee expressed concern that society was increasingly rewarding sensational or unintelligent online content, describing it as an “Olodo uprising.”
The rapper warned that the trend could discourage young people from pursuing education and intellectual growth.
Reacting to YCee’s statement, Jarvis disagreed with his position, insisting that many content creators are educated individuals who turned to social media after struggling to secure jobs despite earning university degrees.
According to her, the country’s unemployment challenges have forced many young Nigerians to explore alternative ways of making a living, with digital content creation becoming a legitimate career path.

She noted that she also graduated from school, rejecting the suggestion that content creators do not value education.
Jarvis further argued that people have different talents and interests, saying she identifies with what she called “AI culture” rather than the “Peller culture” referenced by YCee.
She also expressed gratitude for technological innovations and digital platforms that have created income opportunities for young Nigerians, adding that many people would have faced even greater economic hardship without them.
In her words, “Me that went to school and graduated, as government didn’t give us a job, what did you want us to do? You can’t expect those who have high IQs and at the end of the day end up cleaning toilets. You’re even mentioning my man Peller culture. Everybody has their culture. Me I have AI culture. Because we’re acting funny to try to earn a living for ourselves you’re telling us we dont want education. Me that graduated nko. Your president, did he go to school? Why are you attacking us content creators. We’re even supposed to thank Elon Musk that created all this apps that we’re using to earn a living cause I dey reason am say had it been this thing was not there, how e for be. For this country.”
