LAGOS, Nigeria(VOICE OF NAIJA)- Media personality Daddy Freeze has defended content creator Peller amid the growing Peller culture” debate, arguing that Nigeria’s failing reward system, not social media influencers is responsible for the country’s declining interest in education.
His reaction follows comments by rapper YCee, who recently criticized the growing popularity of viral content over education.
The rapper argued that society now rewards sensational online content more than intellectual achievement, describing the trend as an “Olodo Uprising.”
However, Daddy Freeze disagreed with placing the blame on Peller.

He stated that the content creator simply found success within an already broken system rather than creating the problem himself.
“Yes, we have an Olodo culture in Nigeria. But I find it unfair to put the blame on Peller, who is an intelligent young man that took advantage of a broken system. He didn’t break the system,” he said.
He went on to argue that the country’s poor reward structure has made education less attractive to many young Nigerians.
Using the example of a highly qualified medical professional, Daddy Freeze claimed that even experts with years of training are not adequately rewarded for their work.

“I know a professor whose salary is less than 700k a month that’s 8.4M a year for someone who lectures heart surgery. Education can’t guarantee you middle class wealth, that’s why BBN winners get 10M & best graduating students gets 10k,” the media personality added.
Furthermore, the broadcaster maintained that education no longer guarantees a comfortable middle-class lifestyle, making alternative career paths, including content creation, more appealing to many youths.
Questioning the country’s priorities, he compared the huge cash prizes awarded to reality TV winners with the relatively small rewards given to outstanding university graduates.
“What will you aim for? Best graduating student or Big Brother?” Daddy Freeze asked.
