ABUJA, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)-The National Universities Commission has granted approval for six new undergraduate programmes at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, to commence from the 2026/2027 academic session.
The approval came after a successful resource assessment conducted by the commission to determine the institution’s preparedness and the availability of the necessary human and material resources for the proposed courses.
This was contained in a statement issued on Wednesday by the Acting Head of the Directorate of Public Relations, Olasunkanmi Olajide.

According to the statement, the newly approved full-time programmes are Bachelor of Science degrees in Geophysics, Public Health, Biotechnology, Science Laboratory Technology, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene, and Clothing and Textile.
The statement read, “In a letter addressed to the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, the Executive Secretary of the NUC conveyed the Commission’s approval for the establishment of the programmes after a thorough consideration of the outcome of the resource assessment exercise.”
It added that the approval represents another significant step in the university’s efforts to broaden its academic programmes, strengthen manpower development, and address emerging national and global demands in science, technology, health, and sustainable development.
The statement further noted, “With the addition of the six programmes, the University is further strengthening its reputation as a leading institution dedicated to academic excellence, innovation, and the production of highly skilled graduates capable of contributing meaningfully to national development.”
FUNAAB said the approval highlights its commitment to training highly skilled graduates who can contribute effectively to national development in key sectors.
