LAGOS, Nigeria(VOICE OF NAIJA)- Grammy-winning Nigerian star Burna Boy has set a new Billboard milestone for African music after overtaking Tems to become the African artist with the highest number of entries on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart.
The singer, whose real name is Damini Ogulu, achieved the feat this week after landing a fresh entry on the chart through his collaboration with Colombian superstar Shakira on Dai Dai.
The song debuted at No. 75, pushing Burna Boy’s total Hot 100 entries to nine and moving him ahead of Tems, with whom he had previously been tied on eight songs each.
The latest chart appearance adds another major achievement to Burna Boy’s growing global run.

The African Giant crooner has also become the first African artist to place at least one song on the Billboard Hot 100 for six straight years.
Dai Dai gained extra attention after Burna Boy and Shakira performed it at the World Cup opening ceremony, boosting the song’s visibility and helping fuel its chart debut.
With the new entry, Burna Boy’s Billboard Hot 100 record now stretches across multiple years and collaborations.
His previous appearances on the chart include Loved By You in 2021, Last Last in 2022, Sittin’ On Top Of The World and Talibans II in 2023, Just Like Me and We Pray in 2024, WGFT in 2025, and now Only You and Dai Dai in 2026.
The achievement further strengthens Burna Boy’s position as one of Africa’s biggest global music exports, especially at a time when Nigerian artists continue to expand their presence on major international charts.
