LAGOS, Nigeria(VOICE OF NAIJA)- Social media activist VeryDarkMan has condemned a viral video allegedly showing a woman celebrating after collecting money in exchange for her vote during the recently concluded Ekiti State governorship election.
Reacting to the clip online, the outspoken activist expressed anger over what he sees as a dangerous culture of vote buying, arguing that some Nigerians cannot keep complaining about poor leadership while allegedly selling their votes during elections.
According to him, the consequences of such actions often come back to hurt the same citizens who later demand better governance, improved healthcare, security and public services.
VeryDarkMan said it was frustrating to watch people allegedly trade their votes for what he described as a small amount of money, only to later suffer the effects of bad leadership.
“Every time, we keep pitying poor people, whereas many of them don’t even pity themselves,” he said while reacting to the video.

Referring directly to the clip, he added, “Look at this lady celebrating after allegedly selling her vote for ₦15,000 in the just-concluded Ekiti State election.”
The activist went on to tie the alleged act of vote trading to the wider problems Nigerians often face, including weak emergency services and failing public institutions.
“If any of her parents becomes critically ill today, I’m sure there won’t be an ambulance available to take them to the hospital,” he added, arguing that poor electoral choices can contribute to the same governance failures many people later complain about.
He also questioned why videos and allegations linked to electoral misconduct do not receive more public attention, insisting that such incidents should dominate national conversations.
“That video Isaac Fayose posted where people are sharing votes card, it should be on top media news, but everywhere is quiet,” he stated.
