LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – Tottenham Hotspur are pushing ahead with plans to sign Sandro Tonali and Savinho in a major summer overhaul backed by club ownership to strengthen Roberto De Zerbi’s squad.
However, Spurs face strong competition, with Manchester City also monitoring both players. Newcastle United, meanwhile, are unwilling sellers unless a significant offer arrives for Tonali.
Tonali seen as midfield priority
De Zerbi has identified Tonali as a key target to anchor Tottenham’s midfield under his possession-based system.
Talks have already been held with the Italian’s representatives, with Spurs pitching him a central leadership role.

Newcastle value the midfielder at around £100M following their Champions League qualification, and there is no indication they are prepared to negotiate cheaply. Arsenal and Manchester City are also tracking the situation closely.
Savinho pursuit complicated by City stance
Tottenham have also made contact over Savinho and are understood to have explored personal terms with the Brazilian winger.
Spurs are prepared to spend over €70M for the 20-year-old, whom they see as a long-term attacking option. However, Manchester City are reluctant to sell, viewing him as part of their future plans and a potential successor on the right flank.
Spurs’ broader recruitment drive
Tottenham have already been active in the market, securing experienced additions and agreeing deals to reshape the squad ahead of De Zerbi’s first full season in charge.
The pursuit of Tonali and Savinho is expected to define their transfer window, but both deals remain difficult given competition from elite Premier League rivals.
For now, Spurs have backing, ambition, and early groundwork in place — but face major hurdles in turning targets into signings.
