ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- Senate President Godswill Akpabio has showered praise on President Bola Tinubu and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, describing the President as a “deliverer of projects” and the minister as a “miracle worker” during the commissioning of a newly constructed road in Abuja.

Akpabio made the remarks on Thursday at the inauguration of the Airport Road, also known as Bill Clinton Drive, leading to the Tungan Madaki community. The event formed part of activities marking President Tinubu’s third anniversary project commissioning programme.

Representing the President at the ceremony, Akpabio expressed confidence in the quality and durability of the road project, stating that it could remain free of potholes for decades.

According to a report by Daily Post on Friday, the Senate President praised Wike’s performance in office and the infrastructure drive currently underway in the nation’s capital.

“The Minister of the FCT, the miracle worker and Mr Project, as you were speaking I felt a little bit emotional, so because of that I would stick to Mr President’s address,” Akpabio said.

Drawing from his experience as a former governor, Akpabio said he understood the hardship faced by communities that lack basic infrastructure.

“I also come from a community, so I know what it means to stay for 37 or 40 years without a road and coincidentally the company that constructed this road worked with me for eight years of my administration as a governor,” he stated.

“One of the roads that they did for me was commissioned about 15 years ago and till today, there is no pothole. So when I came and saw that they handled this road, I was very sure that particularly with the terrain in the FCT, we are looking at 25 years without a pothole.”

He commended the choice of contractors engaged for the project, saying their track record inspired confidence in the quality of the work delivered.

“So I want to commend you for using very good construction companies,” he added.

Akpabio also used the occasion to applaud President Tinubu’s leadership style, saying the President remains focused on delivering projects despite criticisms from opponents.

“I’m here to represent the President of Nigeria, Bola Tinubu. I think they should call him Mr Deliverer, a man who delivers and it doesn’t matter if they criticize him, he continues to deliver,” he said.

Turning again to Wike, the Senate President said the FCT Minister had continued to exceed expectations since assuming office.

“Mr Project, it doesn’t matter if they like or hate you, you continue to deliver.

“I knew that you would carry the work you did from Rivers State to the FCT, but they were skeptical. A lot of people did not know that the former governor of Rivers State could come here and do the kind of miracle you are doing on a daily basis.”

Akpabio further noted that the ongoing commissioning of projects across the FCT was unprecedented in the country’s history.

“This is the first time in the history of Nigeria that a minister would fix commissioning for 30 days in a month. I appreciate Tinubu who brought this miracle worker and Mr Project to the FCT. Sir, I appreciate it and thank you,” he said.

The Senate President concluded by expressing optimism that the quality of infrastructure being delivered under the current administration would provide long-term benefits for residents and stand the test of time.
