LAGOS, Nigeria(VOICE OF NAIJA)- Nollywood actor Chinedu Ikedieze, popularly known as Aki, expressed disbelief at the amount football fans were required to pay to watch a FIFA World Cup match from a fan viewing area in Dallas, United States.
The actor shared a video while attending the fan festival for Wednesday’s Group K clash between DR Congo and Portugal at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
In the clip, Aki appeared shocked to learn that fans were being charged $30 to gain access to the viewing area, where matches were shown on giant screens outside the stadium.
Converting the amount to Nigerian currency, he noted that it was roughly ₦40,000.
“People who have come to watch match, not even in the stadium. This is just the outside, this is where they put big screens. Do you know how much they are charging us? $30, that’s about 40,000,” he said.

Despite his surprise, the actor admitted that the atmosphere at the venue made fans feel connected to the action, comparing it to popular viewing centres in Nigeria.
“We are heading to the fan festival in Dallas. This is where we can watch the match. And it still feels like you are in the stadium. It’s like a viewing centre in Nigeria,” he added.
Aki also drew attention to the heavy security presence around the venue and revealed that parking a vehicle cost another $30, a detail that further amazed him.
“Police are everywhere. The car park here is $30, bro. $30 to come and watch a game. This is America,” the actor added.
Ikedieze’s experience came on the same day DR Congo earned a valuable 1-1 draw against tournament favourites Portugal in their opening Group K fixture.
