LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – Fulham Vice Chairman and Director of Football Operations Tony Khan has provided an update on the club’s search for a new head coach following Marco Silva’s departure to Benfica, assuring supporters the process is being handled carefully.
Speaking about the managerial search, Khan urged fans not to place too much weight on speculation surrounding Silva’s successor.
“Don’t believe everything you hear,” Khan said, adding that Fulham have widened their list of candidates and are holding “deliberate” meetings as they look to appoint the right coach.
Former Real Madrid Castilla coach Álvaro Arbeloa is among the names linked with the vacancy, although Fulham have yet to announce a preferred candidate.

Khan also revealed the club was caught off guard by Silva’s decision to leave Craven Cottage. According to the Fulham executive, the club had prepared a statement announcing the Portuguese manager had agreed a new contract before he opted to join Benfica instead.
Reflecting on the 2025/26 campaign, Khan praised the players and staff for maintaining Fulham’s Premier League status despite managerial uncertainty and significant changes within the squad.
He stressed that the club remains committed to its long-term project and is continuing work on player recruitment ahead of the summer transfer window.
Fulham are expected to take their time before naming Silva’s successor, with Khan insisting the club would rather make the right appointment than rush the process.
