ABUJA, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)-Lagos State University (LASU) has warned students and members of the public against a purported “Official Sign-Out Party” being circulated on social media, stating that the event is neither organised nor endorsed by the institution.
In a disclaimer issued by the university and signed by the Deputy Registrar and Coordinator, Centre for Information and Public Relations, Mrs Oluwayemisi Thomas-Onashile, LASU said its attention had been drawn to a flyer advertising the event scheduled to hold on Thursday, 19th June 2026, from 8:00 p.m. till dawn at Don J Hotel, Igboelerin.
The university noted that the flyer also features the image of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, mni, NPOM, without authorisation.

LASU stated that neither the Vice-Chancellor nor the institution has any involvement in, or knowledge of, the planning, organisation or sponsorship of the event.
It said “any involvement, knowledge, or affiliation with the planning, execution, or sponsorship of this event is denied by both the Vice-Chancellor and the university.”
Management added that the use of the Vice-Chancellor’s name and photograph on the flyer was unauthorised.
The university urged graduating students, parents and the general public to disregard any impression that the event is an official LASU programme, stressing that it is not recognised or endorsed by the institution.
LASU further warned that it would not be liable for any security breaches, financial losses or other incidents arising from participation in the event.
The statement reaffirmed the university’s dissociation from the purported programme and advised stakeholders to rely solely on official communication channels for verified information on student activities.
