LAGOS, Nigeria(VOICE OF NAIJA)- The Bayelsa Multi-Door Courthouse resolved 750 civil and business disputes within one year, achieving an 85 percent success rate and reinforcing the growing role of alternative dispute resolution in delivering faster, cost-effective justice.
The Chairman of the Governing Council of the Bayelsa Multi-Door Courthouse, King Collins Daniel, made the announcement on Wednesday during a media briefing ahead of the council’s second Stakeholders’ Sensitisation Conference scheduled to hold in Yenagoa.
Danielreported that the alternative dispute resolution body resolved 750 civil and business-related cases during the period, offering faster and less confrontational options for individuals, businesses, government agencies, and other stakeholders seeking justice.
“So far, from my record, the Bayelsa Multi-Door Courthouse has resolved a total of 750 Civil and Business Cases in One Year and recorded 85% Success Rate. We have continued to provide citizens, businesses, government agencies, and other stakeholders with efficient and less adversarial mechanisms for resolving disputes,” he said.
Daniel noted that the institution was established to promote amicable settlement of disputes and reduce reliance on lengthy court processes.
Reflecting on the maiden edition of the stakeholders’ conference, he said the event attracted participants from the judiciary, legal profession, business sector, traditional institutions, civil society groups, and government agencies.

“The discussions and resolutions reached at the conference significantly enhanced public awareness of the services and operations of the Bayelsa Multi-Door Courthouse and strengthened confidence in Alternative Dispute Resolution as a viable complement to conventional litigation,” Daniel stated.
Furthermore, he explained that the success of the first conference influenced the Governing Council’s decision to approve a second edition aimed at sustaining awareness and strengthening stakeholder engagement.
“The primary objective of our conference is to create awareness among stakeholders on the role and relevance of the Multi-Door Courthouse in promoting the speedy, efficient, and cost-effective administration of justice through Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) mechanisms,” the chairman noted.
He also reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to fostering peace, unity, and access to justice through dialogue-based conflict resolution.
The chairman invited legal practitioners, judicial officers, public institutions, business leaders, traditional rulers, civil society organisations, students, and members of the public to participate in the conference.
“We believe that through sustained stakeholder engagement and policy dialogue, the Bayelsa Multi-Door Courthouse will continue to contribute meaningfully to the development of a more responsive, efficient, and people-oriented justice system,” he added.
Notably, the upcoming conference is expected to focus on expanding public awareness of alternative dispute resolution and encouraging wider adoption of peaceful conflict-resolution mechanisms across Bayelsa State.
