ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- The Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, has expressed confidence that the performance of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will ultimately silence critics and pave the way for his re-election in 2027.
Speaking on Tuesday at a Contact and Sensitisation Retreat organised by the North-West Tinubu/Matawalle Peace and Unity Initiatives in Sokoto, Matawalle accused opponents of the administration of spreading falsehoods and propaganda aimed at undermining the President’s achievements.
He maintained that such criticisms would not diminish the impact of Tinubu’s policies and reforms.
“Those attacking President Tinubu with lies and propaganda will be disappointed. His achievements and commitment to national development will speak for themselves in 2027,” Matawalle stated.
The minister argued that Tinubu had demonstrated decisive leadership by tackling insecurity, implementing economic reforms and supporting critical sectors of the economy.

According to him, the administration has strengthened the operational capacity of the Armed Forces and other security agencies, resulting in notable progress in combating insecurity, particularly across Northern Nigeria.
“President Tinubu inherited serious security and governance challenges, but he has shown courage and determination in addressing them. His administration continues to invest in security, infrastructure, education and human capital development,” he said.
Matawalle also criticised what he described as deliberate attempts by some political actors to misinform Nigerians and discredit the government’s efforts.
“It is unfortunate that some individuals have chosen to spread misinformation and negative narratives despite the administration’s efforts to promote unity, peace and progress,” he added.
The minister urged Nigerian youths not to allow themselves to be used as tools for political propaganda capable of creating division and instability in the country.
“Our youths must reject falsehood and focus on initiatives that promote national development, peace and social harmony,” he said.
Earlier, the Lead Convener of the North-West Tinubu/Matawalle Peace and Unity Initiatives, Yusuf Abubakar, said the retreat was organised to strengthen grassroots support for Tinubu and highlight the achievements of the administration.

“Our objective is to mobilise support by educating Nigerians on the President’s policies, reforms and development agenda,” Abubakar said.
He called for greater collaboration among stakeholders to sustain public awareness of government programmes and commended Matawalle for supporting mobilisation efforts across the North-West region.
The retreat was attended by 58 leaders of community groups, associations and ambassadors drawn from Sokoto, Kebbi, Zamfara and Kaduna states.
