LAGOS, Nigeria(VOICE OF NAIJA)- Nigerian singer Emoseh Khamofu, popularly known as Bloody Civilian, has opened up about how her music career has reshaped her outlook on life, revealing that she does not share some of the traditional expectations her family has for her, including marriage.
The Taraba-born singer made the disclosure during a recent episode of the Not Just On podcast, where she reflected on the differences between her current beliefs and the values she grew up with.
The 26-year-old musician stated that pursuing a career in the entertainment industry has broadened her perspective and led her to question some of the conventional expectations often placed on women in her cultural environment.
Bloody Civilian explained that while her family still holds certain traditional views about what her future should look like, those expectations no longer align with her personal ambitions.

“One thing my family still does not understand about being an artiste is the fact that certain conventional things that they expect of a woman from the North are just simply not things that I am excited to do,” the artist said.
The “1999” hitmaker specifically addressed the issue of marriage, revealing that it is not currently a priority for her despite frequent conversations about it within her family.
“For instance, marriage is not something that I am thinking of at all. But that question keeps being brought up,” she added.
Bloody Civilian suggested that her family struggles to fully understand how her experiences as an artiste have influenced her worldview, especially regarding choices that are often considered important milestones in traditional settings.
