Gunmen Kill Three Security Personnel In NIPSS Raid – Police

ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- Three security operatives have been confirmed dead following an early morning attack on the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, in Kuru, Plateau State.

The Plateau State Police Command, Plateau State Police Command, confirmed the incident in a statement issued on Tuesday in Jos by its Public Relations Officer, SP Alfred Alabo.

According to the statement, the attack occurred in the early hours of Monday, June 16, 2026, while security personnel were on duty at the facility.

“The Plateau State Police Command, on a very sad note, wishes to confirm the incident that occurred in the early hours of today, 16th June 2026, involving security personnel on duty at the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, NIPSS, Kuru,” the statement read.

It added that “regrettably, three security personnel lost their lives during the incident.”

The command also disclosed that security around the facility has been strengthened following the attack. It said reinforcement teams have been deployed, while patrols have been intensified under the supervision of the Commissioner of Police, Bassey Ewah.

Authorities further assured residents that the situation has been brought under control, noting that normal activities have resumed in the area.

“The situation is under control and normal activities have resumed,” the statement added.

The police also confirmed that a full investigation has commenced into the incident and urged members of the public to remain calm and continue their lawful activities.

“Further updates will be communicated in due course,” the command said.

NIPSS Kuru, Nigeria’s premier policy training institution for senior public officials, has now recorded one of its most serious security breaches in recent years following the deadly attack.
