LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – Real Madrid have reached a verbal agreement to sign Chelsea left-back Marc Cucurella, with the Spain international expected to complete the move after the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Reports indicate that all parties have agreed to the transfer, although the deal is yet to be formally completed. Cucurella is currently with Spain at the World Cup and is expected to undergo the remaining formalities after the tournament.
The 27-year-old joined Chelsea from Brighton & Hove Albion in 2022 and has made more than 100 appearances for the London club, establishing himself as one of the Premier League’s most reliable left-backs.

The proposed move is expected to strengthen Real Madrid’s options on the left side of defence as the Spanish giants continue to reshape their squad ahead of the new season. Reports also suggest the defender was identified as a priority signing by new Real Madrid manager José Mourinho.
Although the financial details have not been officially disclosed, reports suggest the transfer fee is expected to exceed €50 million.
Neither Real Madrid nor Chelsea has issued an official statement confirming the agreement, while the transfer remains subject to the completion of the necessary documentation and medical examination after the World Cup.
