ABUJA, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)-The Federation Account Allocation Committee has distributed N2.26tn in April 2026 revenue among the Federal Government, state governments and local government councils, reflecting an increase of N217bn from the N2.04tn shared in the previous month.
The latest disbursement represents a 10.6 per cent rise compared to the March 2026 revenue allocation made in April.
Details of the allocation were contained in a statement issued on Monday by the Director of Press and Public Relations in the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation, Bawa Mokwa, following the FAAC meeting held in Abuja.
According to the statement, the N2.26tn shared among the three tiers of government was drawn from April 2026 Federation Account revenue.

The distributable amount comprised N1.260tn in statutory revenue, N747.088bn from Value Added Tax and N250bn augmentation.
“A total sum of N2.26tn, being April 2026 Federation Account Revenue, has been shared to the Federal Government, States and the Local Government Councils,” the statement read.
It further noted that total gross revenue available in April stood at N3.184tn, from which N113.756bn was deducted as collection costs, while N813.839bn was set aside for transfers, refunds and savings.
The communiqué issued after the meeting indicated a notable increase in statutory revenue collections during the month.
Gross statutory revenue rose to N2.378tn in April from N1.699tn in March, representing an increase of N678.224bn.
VAT collections also improved, with gross revenue increasing to N806.617bn from N664.425bn in March, an increase of N142.192bn.
FAAC attributed the improved revenue performance to stronger receipts from key tax and non-tax sources.
“In April 2026, Companies Income Tax, CGT, SDT, Import Duty, Oil and Gas Royalty and Value Added Tax increased significantly while Petroleum Profit Tax and Hydrocarbon Tax decreased considerably. Excise Duty and CET Levies decreased marginally,” the communiqué stated.
Of the N2.257tn distributable revenue, the Federal Government received N787.351bn, state governments got N772.360bn, while local government councils received N540.152bn. Oil-producing states received N157.254bn as 13 per cent derivation revenue.
From the N1.260tn statutory revenue component, the Federal Government received N580.942bn, states received N294.661bn and local governments got N227.172bn, while oil-producing states received N157.254bn as derivation revenue.
The N747.088bn VAT revenue was shared with the Federal Government receiving N74.709bn, states N410.898bn and local governments N261.481bn.
From the N250bn augmentation, the Federal Government received N131.700bn, states got N66.800bn and local governments received N51.500bn.
The latest allocation reflects sustained growth in federally generated revenue despite weaker earnings from some petroleum-related taxes.
Although Petroleum Profit Tax and Hydrocarbon Tax recorded significant declines during the period, stronger collections from Companies Income Tax, import duties, VAT, and oil and gas royalties helped boost the revenue pool available for distribution.
The rise in statutory revenue and VAT receipts largely drove the higher allocation, providing additional funding for the three tiers of government as they contend with growing expenditure needs, infrastructure demands and social service obligations.
