LAGOS, Nigeria(VOICE OF NAIJA)- Popular Nigerian fashion designer Veekee James has expressed disbelief after receiving an unexpected request from a stranger seeking N2 million for school fees.
The celebrity designer, who recently welcomed her first child, shared the experience in a video circulating on social media, where she displayed a screenshot of the message that left her stunned.
Known for occasionally helping people who reach out for financial support, Veekee said she was surprised by the size of the request and questioned what could have inspired such confidence from the sender.
“There is something wrong somewhere. In what way have I portrayed myself to make somebody think that they can ask me to please help with 2,000,000 for school fees so randomly?” she asked.
The designer explained that requests for financial assistance are not unusual for her.
However, she noted that most people typically ask for much smaller amounts.

Reflecting on the message, Veekee who described herself as a “struggling fatherless child” revealed that it was the largest request she had ever received from a stranger online.
“I’m a struggling fatherless child who now has a child. Normally, what I see is, help me with 20k, 50k, 100k. I still dey say, ok, ok, the one wey I fit help, I help. N2,000,000 for school fees? Which school you dey go?” she said.
Veekee’s story also resonated with fans familiar with her journey from humble beginnings to becoming one of Nigeria’s most celebrated fashion entrepreneurs.
The viral exchange has since become another talking point about social media entitlement and the expectations often placed on public figures.
