ABUJ, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)-The National Youth Service Corps has suspended the 2026 Batch B Stream I Orientation Course for prospective corps members posted to Niger State.

In a notice shared on its official X handle on Sunday, the NYSC attributed the decision to ongoing renovation works at the state orientation camp.

The statement read, “This is to notify the General Public and Prospective Corps Members (PCMs) deployed to Niger State for the 2026 Batch B Stream I Orientation Course that their Orientation Course Exercise is suspended for now due to ongoing renovation work at the Orientation Camp.

“PCMs affected should note that they will be contacted at a short notice on where and when to report for their Orientation Course.

“The Management regrets all inconveniences to the affected PCMs and their parents.”

The scheme said affected prospective corps members would be notified of fresh arrangements for the exercise in due course.

The development marks another disruption to NYSC activities in Niger State linked to infrastructure concerns.

Earlier in 2026, a windstorm severely damaged critical facilities at the NYSC orientation camp in Paiko, located in Paikoro Local Government Area.

The destruction affected male hostels, the multipurpose hall, kitchen and staff quarters, prompting Governor Mohammed Bago to order immediate rehabilitation of the facilities.

Similar orientation course postponements arising from renovation works were also recorded earlier in the year in Enugu and Osun states.

The 2026 Batch B Stream I orientation programme began nationwide on June 10, 2026, and is expected to end on June 30, 2026.
