LAGOS, Nigeria(VOICE OF NAIJA)- Nigerian singer Davido has take the call for action to the global stage, using one of the world’s biggest entertainment platforms to draw attention to the plight of abducted schoolchildren and teachers from Oyo State.
The “Fia” hitmaker appeared on stage at the FIFA World Cup 2026 Countdown Concert wearing a jacket bearing the names of abducted schoolchildren and teachers from Oyo State alongside the message, “Bring Them Home.”
The Afrobeats star made the bodily statement during his performance at the FIFA concert held at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on Wednesday.
While sharing the stage with international acts including Major Lazer, Ava Max, and Bia, Davido captured attention with a custom black leather jacket carrying the names of the kidnapped victims on green button tags and a bold message that read, “Bring Them Home.”
The symbolic gesture was widely interpreted as a show of solidarity with the affected families and a call for renewed efforts to secure the victims’ release.
Photos and videos from the event quickly spread across social media, with many Nigerians applauding the singer for using his global influence to spotlight an issue that continues to generate concern across the country.

The abductions stem from a May 15 attack on three schools near Ogbomoso in Oyo State, where gunmen reportedly kidnapped pupils, some as young as two and three years old, alongside teachers.
One teacher was killed during the attack, while efforts to rescue those still in captivity remain ongoing.
By displaying the victims’ names before an international audience, Davido shifted attention from music to a humanitarian cause, ensuring the crisis reached millions of viewers worldwide.
