ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- The Lagos State chapter of the Accord Party has formally unveiled its candidates for the 2027 general elections, presenting its governorship candidate, senatorial hopefuls and other legislative aspirants at a ceremony held in Lagos.
A total of 27 candidates seeking various elective positions across the state were issued Certificates of Return during the event. Among those unveiled was the party’s governorship candidate, Sowore Robert.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Lagos State Chairman of the Accord Party, Dele Oladeji, said the presentation of the certificates officially confirmed the emergence of the party’s candidates ahead of the 2027 elections.
Oladeji, who is also contesting for the Lagos West Senatorial District seat, described the Accord Party as a credible alternative for Lagos residents seeking a departure from the current political order.
He said the party’s agenda is anchored on social justice, equity and welfare-oriented governance, with a focus on improving citizens’ welfare, strengthening security and protecting lives and property.
“Today is significant because it affirms the candidates of the Accord Party in Lagos State for the 2027 general elections. We are issuing Certificates of Return and formally presenting them as the party’s candidates for the forthcoming elections,” Oladeji said.
“Lagos residents seek a departure from the current political order, and the Accord Party possesses the vision and capacity to deliver meaningful change.”

Also speaking, the party’s Lagos Central Senatorial candidate, Solomon Wahab, said his decision to seek office was motivated by a desire to improve governance and ensure that citizens enjoy greater democratic dividends.
He stressed the importance of accountability in government and urged eligible Nigerians to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards and actively participate in the electoral process.
Wahab further called on the Independent National Electoral Commission to ensure transparent, free and credible elections.
For his part, the Accord Party’s House of Representatives candidate for Badagry Federal Constituency, Joseph Jehoshaphat, pledged to tackle infrastructure deficits and youth unemployment if elected.
He said attracting federal projects and development initiatives to the constituency would rank among his top priorities.
The Lagos State House of Assembly candidate for Somolu Constituency II, Abisoye Obayon, said his aspiration is driven by a desire to advance development and create more opportunities for residents.
Obayon expressed confidence that voters would support candidates with deep community ties and practical solutions to local challenges.
Meanwhile, the party’s Lagos East Senatorial candidate, Blessing Maduka-Sunday, called for increased participation of women in politics, describing the low representation of women in elective offices as a major obstacle to inclusive governance.
She encouraged more women to contest elective positions and advocated policies aimed at women’s empowerment, poverty reduction and wealth creation.
The unveiling ceremony highlighted the Accord Party’s preparations for the 2027 elections, with its candidates outlining plans focused on governance reforms, development, accountability and broader citizen participation in the democratic process.
