LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – Team Nigeria have won one silver and two bronze medals at the United World Wrestling Ulaanbaatar Ranking Series which ended on Saturday in Mongolia.
Hannah Reuben and Esther Kolawole led Nigeria’s medal charge. Reuben claimed silver in the women’s 76kg after defeating opponents from Mongolia and India in the early rounds. She lost 0-8 to India’s Kajal in the final.
Kolawole secured bronze in the 62kg category. She upset world No. 1 Russian Amina Tandelova 6-0 before beating China’s Yang Huan 10-0. The Nigerian lost 4-5 to North Korea’s Kim Ok-ju in the semi-final.

Christianah Ogunsanya added a second bronze for Nigeria earlier in the competition.
The three medals were Nigeria’s only podium finishes from the four wrestlers sent to the tournament. The other competitor, Mercy Genesis, did not win a medal.
The Ulaanbaatar Ranking Series is the third of four UWW ranking events this year. It offers wrestlers ranking points that count toward seeding for the World Championships.
