LAGOS, Nigeria(VOICE OF NAIJA)- The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC) has reassured Nigerians that there are no confirmed cases of Ebola Virus Disease in the country, urging the public to ignore false reports circulating online and rely on verified health information.
The public health agency issued the clarification on Saturday amid growing concerns triggered by unverified messages circulating across social media platforms and other channels.
In a statement shared on its official X account, the NCDC described the information as false and misleading, assuring Nigerians that no confirmed case of Ebola has been recorded anywhere in the country.
“We wish to clarify: there are currently no confirmed cases of Ebola in Nigeria. Any report stating otherwise is false,” the NCDC said.
The agency emphasized that health authorities remain on alert and are actively monitoring disease threats through existing surveillance systems designed to detect and respond to potential outbreaks.

NCDC maintained that efforts to strengthen preparedness and emergency response measures are ongoing across the country to ensure Nigeria remains ready to tackle any public health challenge.
“NCDC remains vigilant and continues to strengthen surveillance, preparedness, and response measures nationwide,” the post read.
At a time when misinformation about infectious diseases fuel public fear and anxiety, health experts have repeatedly warned that false health claims can undermine public confidence and complicate disease prevention efforts.
Notably, the NCDC urged Nigerians to disregard unverified reports and obtain health updates only through its official communication channels.
“For verified updates, follow our official channels,” the agency stated, directing the public to its verified accounts on X, Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube.
The disease control agency reaffirmed its commitment to protecting public health through continuous monitoring, rapid response systems, and timely dissemination of accurate information.
Nigerians have also been encouraged to remain calm while staying informed through trusted sources whenever concerns about disease outbreaks arise.
