LAGOS, Nigeria(VOICE OF NAIJA)- Florida authorities have officially closed their investigation into the death of wrestling legend Terry Bollea, known widely as Hulk Hogan, confirming that the WWE icon died of natural causes after an extensive review.
The Clearwater Police Department announced on Friday that its review of the case found no evidence of foul play or criminal activity in the death of the wrestling icon.
According to investigators, the 72-page report released nearly a year after his death was based on a detailed examination of medical records, witness statements, surveillance footage, and a visual inspection of Hogan’s body.
Hogan died at the age of 71 after reportedly suffering cardiac arrest at his Clearwater, Florida, home on July 24, 2025.
He was later transported to Morton Plant Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
In a statement, police said the case has now been classified as “an attended natural death.”
“Under the circumstances, it fell to the Clearwater Police Department to address, challenge or validate some of the concerns in the case. Investigators had to interview multiple witnesses and review various recordings to answer questions central to our inquiry,” the statement said.
Authorities noted that there was never any immediate indication of suspicious circumstances surrounding Hogan’s death.
However, a full investigation was conducted to address questions that emerged afterward.

Part of the inquiry examined concerns raised by Hogan’s occupational therapist, who initially suggested that a severed phrenic nerve from a previous medical procedure may have contributed to the wrestler’s death.
The therapist later clarified that he was not a neurosurgeon and that his opinion was based on limited observations.
Furthermore, police thanked Hogan’s family and legal representatives for cooperating throughout the investigation.
“Their willingness to allow our investigators access to every personal information, at a time when they were grieving and struggling, was extremely helpful,” the statement added.
Hogan’s death came just weeks after his wife, Sky Daily, publicly dismissed speculation that he was seriously ill following routine neck and back surgeries.
Over the last decade of his life, the wrestling legend reportedly underwent more than 25 surgeries as a result of the physical demands of his long career in professional wrestling.
Widely regarded as one of the biggest names in sports entertainment history, Hogan helped transform professional wrestling into a global phenomenon through the rise of “Hulkamania.”
He was a six-time world champion, a WWE Hall of Famer, and the headline attraction at the inaugural WrestleMania in 1985.
Following the release of the report, tributes to the late wrestling icon continued to resonate among fans and public figures.
