Lagos, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- Nigeria and China have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation in key sectors critical to Nigeria’s economic transformation, including power, infrastructure, manufacturing and agriculture.
This commitment emerged during high-level discussions in Abuja between the Director-General of the Nigeria-China Strategic Partnership (NCSP), the Power Minister, Joseph Tegbe, and the Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, Yu Dunhai.
The meeting focused on advancing the strategic relationship between both countries and identifying practical areas for expanded collaboration to support Nigeria’s development and industrialisation objectives.
Ambassador Yu congratulated Tegbe on his recent appointment as Minister of Power and commended his contributions to strengthening relations between Nigeria and China under the Nigeria-China Comprehensive Strategic Partnership framework.
The envoy reaffirmed China’s commitment to implementing agreements reached between the leaders of both countries, including outcomes from the recent Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) Beijing Summit.

He noted that sustained collaboration in electricity, energy infrastructure and development projects would be instrumental in elevating bilateral relations while delivering tangible benefits to the people of both nations.
According to the ambassador, enhanced cooperation in these strategic sectors remains vital to deepening the comprehensive partnership and supporting shared economic and development goals.
In his response, Tegbe described China as one of Nigeria’s most important development partners and reiterated the Federal Government’s commitment to expanding cooperation with Beijing across multiple sectors.
He expressed appreciation for China’s longstanding support for Nigeria’s socio-economic development and pledged closer engagement with the Chinese Embassy and relevant institutions to drive investments and projects in power infrastructure, industrial manufacturing and modern agriculture.
The minister stressed that stronger Nigeria-China collaboration would accelerate the country’s development agenda, improve infrastructure delivery and contribute to broader efforts aimed at promoting sustainable growth and modernisation across Africa.
He added that the partnership offers significant opportunities to unlock investment, enhance industrial capacity and strengthen Nigeria’s position as a leading economic hub on the continent.
