LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – Chelsea are planning to strengthen three key areas of their squad in the coming months, according to sources familiar with the club’s recruitment strategy.
The club’s recruitment team has identified centre-back, central midfield and left wing as priority positions ahead of the summer transfer window as Chelsea look to build on their return to the UEFA Champions League.
Defensive reinforcements are viewed as essential, with the Blues seeking greater stability at the back. The club is expected to pursue a centre-back capable of bringing consistency and leadership to the defence.

In midfield, Chelsea are believed to be targeting a physical, ball-winning player. Head coach Enzo Maresca is keen to add a midfielder who can shield the back four, break up opposition attacks and help control the tempo of matches.
The left-wing position is also under review, with the club reportedly looking for a naturally left-footed wide player to add balance and creativity in the final third.
Chelsea’s return to Champions League football is expected to boost their spending power, although player sales may still be required to ensure compliance with Financial Fair Play regulations.
