LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – Lamine Yamal has been named the 2025/26 La Liga Player of the Season after playing a key role in Barcelona’s dominant title-winning campaign.
The 18-year-old further cemented his reputation as one of world football’s brightest young talents, breaking several records during a remarkable season.
Yamal contributed 16 goals and 12 assists in league competition, emerging as one of Barcelona’s most influential players.

In addition to the official La Liga award, Yamal was also voted Transfermarkt’s La Liga Player of the Season, securing 38.7 per cent of community votes in recognition of his performances and conduct throughout the campaign.
The teenager maintained an impressive disciplinary record in domestic competition, receiving only one yellow card throughout the La Liga season and serving no suspension.
However, Yamal was fined €5,000 by UEFA for breaching anti-doping procedures during the Champions League. The sanction was imposed after he failed to report immediately to the mandatory doping-control station following Barcelona’s match against Inter Milan.
