LAGOS, Nigeria(VOICE OF NAIJA)- Veteran Nigerian Fuji singer Remi Aluko has opened up about his worsening health condition, revealing that he can no longer see due to glaucoma despite undergoing eye surgery and years of treatment.

The veteran singer made the revelation during a recent interview on Oyinmomo TV, where he spoke candidly about his health struggles and how he has learned to cope with the challenges of living with severe vision loss.

According to Aluko, glaucoma has been a long-term battle, even though many people around him were unaware of the seriousness of his condition.

The singer explained that he previously underwent eye surgery, but his eyesight has continued to deteriorate.

Giving an update on his current condition, he revealed that he is no longer able to see and now lives in a way that is similar to someone who is blind.

“I’m a glaucoma patient. I’m managing myself; I’m currently not seeing. Despite being a glaucoma patient, many people don’t know. There’s no difference between me and a blind person now, but no one knows because I don’t let my condition weigh me down,” he said.

Despite the life-changing challenge, the Fuji star stated that he remains determined not to allow the illness to control his life.

He noted that he has adapted to his situation and continues to take care of himself independently.

“Thank God that I know how to take care of myself like someone who can see. I decided not to dwell on my condition because I don’t want to be depressed,” he added.

Furthermore, Aluko’s comments have drawn attention to glaucoma, a serious eye disease that can lead to permanent vision loss if not properly managed.

Even with the loss of his vision, Aluko’s determination to remain strong and avoid despair continues to inspire his fans.
