ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has urged the Federal Government to give Nigeria’s security chiefs a 90-day ultimatum to eliminate terrorists across the country or step down from office.

Adeboye made the call in a video shared on X on Tuesday, expressing concern over the persistent security challenges facing the nation and calling for more decisive action against those responsible for the violence.

The respected cleric said security chiefs must be held accountable for delivering measurable results in the fight against terrorism.

“If I were asked to make suggestions, I would say quietly to our government, ‘Move fast and tell our security chiefs, get rid of these terrorists within 90 days or resign,’” he said.

Adeboye also urged the government to broaden its strategy beyond targeting terrorists alone by going after those who finance and support their activities.

“When giving orders to the service chiefs this time around, we should make it clear to them that they are not only to eliminate the terrorists; they should eliminate their sponsors, no matter how influential they may be,” he added.

The cleric recalled that he had offered similar advice to a former Nigerian president, recommending that security chiefs be given a clear deadline to tackle insecurity.

According to him, while the directive was eventually issued, it was not fully enforced when the stipulated period expired.

He said the experience highlighted the importance of strong political will and strict implementation of security directives if the country is to make meaningful progress in ending insecurity.

Adeboye’s comments come amid renewed concerns over rising incidents of terrorism, banditry and kidnapping in different parts of the country.

The remarks also add to growing calls from various stakeholders urging the government to adopt stronger and more effective measures to address Nigeria’s security challenges and restore public confidence in the nation’s safety architecture.
