ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- Mrs Busayo Adelabu John-Paul, sister of former Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, and her twin 12-year-old sons have been abducted by unidentified gunmen in Ibadan, Oyo State.
The incident has triggered strong reactions from the Oyo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), which described the abduction as another disturbing indicator of the worsening security situation in the state.
The party urged Governor Seyi Makinde to urgently strengthen collaboration with security agencies and other relevant stakeholders to curb the rising wave of kidnappings and restore public confidence in the security system.
Mrs Adelabu John-Paul was reportedly abducted on Wednesday morning in the Elewura-Challenge area of Ibadan.
Eyewitness accounts said the assailants trailed the vehicle conveying the victims from their residence before intercepting it and forcefully whisking them away at about 7:30 a.m.
In a statement issued in Ibadan by its Publicity Secretary, Olawale Sadare, the APC expressed concern that the latest incident came amid growing public anxiety over unresolved abduction cases in the state.

The party also referenced the continued captivity of schoolchildren and teachers abducted in Oriire Local Government Area, alongside two staff members of the Cocoa Research Institute of Nigeria (CRIN) kidnapped in the Idi-Ayunre area of Oluyole Local Government Area.
The opposition party called for urgent review of the state’s security architecture, insisting that identified gaps must be addressed to improve protection of lives and property.
It further demanded the immediate rescue of all victims currently in captivity, including the Oriire schoolchildren, CRIN staff, Mrs Adelabu John-Paul, and her twin sons.
The APC warned that insecurity in the state was becoming increasingly widespread, urging coordinated and decisive intervention by government and security agencies.
It added that swift action was necessary to restore public confidence and ensure safety across Oyo State.
