ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is expected to attend the maiden Annual Dinner of the State House Press Corps (SHPC), an event designed to deepen engagement between the media and the Presidency while recognising excellence in presidential reporting.
The Chairman of the State House Press Corps, Anule Emmanuel, disclosed this in a statement issued on Monday in Abuja.
The SHPC chairman also disclosed that Vice President Kashim Shettima, First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas, as well as several state governors, are expected to attend the gathering.
Emmanuel said the event, which was initially scheduled to hold on Thursday, has been rescheduled for June 19 and will take place at the State House Conference Centre inside the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
According to him, the dinner is intended to celebrate outstanding presidential reporting and provide a more relaxed environment for interaction between the President and journalists who cover the Presidency.

“The event will provide a unique opportunity for President Bola Tinubu to interact one-on-one with journalists who report on his administration daily from the Presidential Villa,” he said.
Describing the occasion as a landmark achievement for the State House Press Corps, Emmanuel noted that the gathering would bring together some of the most influential figures in Nigeria’s media industry.
“For the first time, we are bringing together the crème de la crème of Nigeria’s media industry to honour dedicated professionals who report from the Villa, a beat that is often demanding and rarely receives public recognition,” he said.
He further revealed that one of the major highlights of the dinner would be the formal recognition of President Tinubu as the Grand Patron of the State House Press Corps.
According to Emmanuel, the President will be decorated with the honour during the event.
The State House Press Corps is made up of journalists accredited to cover the Office of the President and activities of the Presidency.
